Radio Operator's Program
A Marine Radio Operators’
Certificate of Proficiency is a prerequisite for all commercial qualifications
and recreational qualifications of Yachtmaster and Rescue Boat Endorsement under
the AYF scheme. It is also required
for all who use marine VHF and MF/HF radios and is strongly recommended for
others pursuing recreational maritime activities. This course aims to provide the knowledge and skills for
candidates to achieve the MROCP issued by the Australian Communications
Authority. It also seeks to develop
confidence and general competence in radio usage. You will get the “Wet Papers”. The course is conducted over 14 hours, usually three week day
evenings following by the examination which takes approximately an hour. Resources:

ACA brochures Candidates will sit for the relevant examination provided by
the Australian Communications Authority (ACA) at Cairns Cruising Yacht Squadron.
The examination is assessed by the Australian Maritime College.
