Safety
 Certificate

A statement of Attainment for “Occupational Health and Safety at Sea” is a prerequisite for all commercial qualifications up to and including Master Class 4.  It is highly recommended for those pursuing recreational maritime training and we ask those undertaking preparation for TL4 (Yachtsmaster) to do this course.

There are no prerequisites for this course although those undertaking it should have reasonable fitness, be able to swim and have no medical conditions that may be affected.

The course aims to develop an awareness of workplace health and safety issues in the maritime industry and an ability to cope efficiently and effectively with emergency situations on board.  In addition to classroom workshops, the course includes practical training in the use of life jackets and life rafts, fire fighting and flare activation.

The course is conducted over 20 hours.

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and a certificate will be issued on competent completion.
